“When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars that you have established.” Psalm 8:3 (NRSV)

God gives us so much beauty each day. I do sometimes look out my window to see the stars, the sky, the moon, the sun, the clouds, the beautiful sky. Looking at God’s wonder is soothing tome.

I remember I was working on a very difficult project in southern California, and when I just had to get away to think, I would go to a park overlooking the ocean, and sit on the park bench and just let the waves and beauty surround me so I could once again focus.

Today, I sometimes forget to turn to this same thing to slow myself down from the day to day tasks that I can’t seem to set aside to seek God’s guidance. So for today, I’m going to stop and “smell the roses”, whether it is sharing a bite of toast with my great-granddaughter, Macy, or to send a note to someone, letting them know I am thinking of them and praying for them.

Dear God, Help me focus on what is important – You. Keep me focused on what You would have me do today. In the Name of our Living Lord and Saviour, Christ Jesus. Amen
