“Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples!” –Psalm 105:1 ESV

“Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples!” –Psalm 105:1 ESV

Teaching at a private Christian school makes it easy to share my love of God with my students. I can reference poor behavior choices to what God would want us to do in a particular situation. That’s easy. It is not such an easy task to share my faith outside my classroom walls, especially when I am surrounded by Mormons (who see themselves as latter day Christians). I ask the Holy Spirit to be my guide when speaking to others so that I can bring people closer to God. It can be so easy to offend others and cause them to turn a deaf ear to what we are trying to share. I remember a sermon from Pastor Roy where he talked about a late night (really early morning) visit to the hospital. He said he was trying to think about what to say to the family in this time of crisis. He said he finally realized that praying for the words from the Holy Spirit was such a better use of his time. He said the Holy Spirit never failed him. What a difference those words have made in my life. When I am faced with an opportunity to share with others, I pray for the Holy Spirit to nudge me and give me the right words. What a difference that has made. Call on Him and look for opportunities to share His life, deeds and message to all of His children.

Dear God, Thank You God for everything we have –what You have first given us: ourselves, our time and our possessions. Help us to share from our abundance with those who have needs of the body or soul. Help us to share Your word with them.
