“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and strengthens the powerless. Even youths will faint and be weary, and the young will fall exhausted; but those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:28-31 Julie Leacox, Fran Torgerson

I love the Energizer Bunny. That advertising character of a battery that keeps providing energy for my electrical devises touches my spirit. While others are slowing down and running out of juice, the “Bunny” keeps on running. Of course, we know by experience that even the most long- lasting battery is not “ever-lasting.” even the bunny finally runs down and out.

But we do have a source of “Everlasting” energy. We do. It’s not in a battery. And it’s not in a bunny. We have an Everlasting God!

Ever-Lasting. God does not run out of Spirit... Power... or Strength.

That’s Good News to us who are not everlasting and who do grow weary. That’s Good News to us who sometimes feel like we’re running on fumes as we meet ourselves “coming and going.” That’s Good News to us who have chronic issues with our physical bodies. That’s Good News to us who have a disease which doesn’t seem to respond to any treatment and we’re running low on hope and strength and spirit.

God “strengthens the powerless.” That’s Good News! I’ll be waiting for the recharging that the Lord provides. I’ll be waiting in line at the Table of Grace, in my reading and study of Scripture, in the quiet of prayer and meditation. I’ll be waiting on God because God does not run out of Love... Mercy... Grace... Peace... Patience...

I’ll wait for it. I’ll wait on the Lord.
