"And when they performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own city of Nazareth. And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him." (KJV) Luke 2:39 and 40

"And when they performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own city of Nazareth. And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him." (KJV) Luke 2:39 and 40

Jesus is presented in the temple. Mary and Joseph did according to the law. Notice they had to do this eight days after her giving birth to Jesus. Talk about a strong woman. Yet, in the next verse, we see something interesting.

It says Jesus was "waxed" strong in the spirit. This term would have a definition of being "Covered" with the spirit. Think about it. Jesus was also filled with wisdom. He was also covered by Grace. He had a lot going for him at an early age.

Now, in this chapter of Luke, two verses later, he is twelve years old. The writer felt he had given enough information about Jesus' upbringing in one verse (verse 40). Keep also in mind that from His time in the temple at twelve till He begins his ministry eighteen years later, we have no record or writings of his life. Why? This is not as important as His ministry.

What is important is what Jesus did for us. And how much He loves us. So, be waxed with the Holy Spirit. Live under God's Grace. Understand His blessings for you. Be humble. Jesus was, with the best training anyone could have ever asked for.

Dear God, Help us keep focused on what You would have us do rather than what we think we should do. Amen.
