“So the woman arose and did according to the word of the man of God. She went with her household and sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years.” 2 Kings 8:2

At the end of this story the woman returns to her homeland and her property is restored. Not really how you might expect her story to end after she went to live among the enemy for seven years.

I’m impressed by her faith. I think it’s really easy to do God’s will when it fits our concept of what God wants but what if He seems to be directing us to do something we think of as wrong?

I attended a study once with a woman who commented on how happy she was to be in a room full of like-minded people. It was an innocent enough comment, but it really rubbed me the wrong way. I don’t think God has called me to hang out with like-minded people. I want to be willing to go wherever He wants, hang out with whomever I find there and do what He has called me to – whether it suits my sensibilities or not.

Father, You have called all sorts of people to be Your children. Please rescue me from having a narrow vision of who my spiritual siblings are and equip and empower me to be faithful to express and glorify You no matter where You may lead me. Amen.
