Daily Devotions

“Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident.” Psalm 27:3

In this reading, I think it is important to look at the verses that come before. Verse 1 reads “The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?

The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?”

"Experience breeds hope and confidence." I don’t know that David was the most courageous man, but based upon his experience of God's former comfort and assistance, he could not apprehend any danger, for he had seen that the Lord could deliver him. God had shown Himself superior to the power of hostile armies, and the psalmist felt assured that he might confide in Him.

The gracious presence of God, His power, His promise, His readiness to hear prayer, the witness of His Spirit in the hearts of His people; these are the secrets of faith that brought David peace of mind just as it should for us today.
When we feel like we are being attacked by an army, faith's shield will ward off the blow.
Vs 14 says: “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. “

Dear Lord,
I ask “that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life.” “Hear my voice when I call, Lord; be merciful to me and answer me.”
