And day by day, continuing steadfastly with one accord in the temple and breaking bread from house to house, they partook of their food with exultation and simplicity of heart,

 

There was a time in my life when I was at church 7 days a week. My Christian school was at my church, I went to Sunday School, worship, choir practice, training union, visitation, youth group, prayer group, and Bible study. I loved it. It was my whole life. I can tell you, however, that it was not all “exultation and simplicity of heart”. Church life is messy!

 

While things may not be as clean and easy as they appeared to be in the early church, I am encouraged that this is where we are all headed. I believe that first blush of love and happiness was what was intended and that is what the perfected Body of Christ will be like some day.

 

Lord, help us to see what we will be to help us live today as who we are. Amen.
