Verse 8: He raises the poor from the dust, / From the ash heap He lifts the needy, / That He may seat them with princes / And cause them to inherit the throne of glory. / For the pillars of the earth are Jehovah’s, / And He has set the world upon them.

Sometimes while I’m working, I listen to spoken messages. Today I was finishing a series on Esther. The speaker was talking about the reversals that take place in that book because God steps in and turns difficulties into blessings. The speaker quoted this passage from Hannah’s prayer in 1 Samuel as an example. I encourage you to read all 10 verses. I selected verse 8 as an example.

If you are feeling at all discouraged today because of our unjust culture, the potential for evil of humanity, or even your own failures, please be assured that we worship and belong to Almighty God who owns the pillars of the earth, and He lifts us up from our dust and seats us with princes to inherit glory.

This is Paul’s prayer from Ephesians 1:17-18: That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the full knowledge of Him, The eyes of your heart having been enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of His calling, and what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance. Amen.
