God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel, saying, Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine alters; and I am left alone, and they seek my life. But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Ba'al. Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace. And if by grace, then is it no more works, then is it no more grace: otherwise, grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is no more grace: otherwise, work is no more work. What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh it for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded. (According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto his day. And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumbling block, and a recommence unto them. Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back away.
There is much here that Paul wrote about to the followers of Christ. Just the opening verses are a reminder that even when we think we are alone, God shows us we are not. Elias thought he was the last one to follow God in Israel. God showed him much differently. First God shows him the seven thousand. But God did not show him the remnant under the election of grace. Think about that. All those who follow Jesus are part of this remnant. Like I say when I'm a church to usher, God always provides. And he does in our everyday lives. Also, not the number of those who God sis show to Elias. Seven thousand. Seven is a holy number unto God. He gave us seven days in a week. He took six days to form the heavens and the earth and then on the seventh, he rested. Take time to research the number seven in God's definition.
We say at Living Lord, It's all about grace. Paul gives us justification as to why in these verses. For by grace, we have salvation and eternal life. For by grace, we have a life on this planet. For by grace, we are led by the Spirit. For my grace we are shown things others may not see. David talked about those without the Lord and how they act. He was accurate in his definition. Keep the good habits of being in the Word, taking part is worship, and knowing that God gave Jesus all authority in all things in our lives. Live for Christ.
Lord, keep us in your fold and by grace, show us the life to live. Amen!
