I waited patiently for the Lord’s help; then He listened to me and heard my cry. He pulled me out of a dangerous pit, out of the deadly quicksand. He set me safely on a rock and made me secure. He taught me to sing a new song, a song of praise to our God. Many who see this will take warning and put their trust in the Lord.

Happy are those who trust the Lord, who do not turn to idols or join those who worship false gods. You have done many things for us, O Lord our God; there is no one like you! You have made many wonderful plans for us. I could never speak of them all, their number is so great!

You do not want sacrifices and offerings: you do not ask for animals burned whole on the altar or sacrifices to take away sins. Instead, you have given me ears to hear you, and so I answered, “Here I am your instructions for me are in the book Law.

How I love to do your will, my God! I keep your teaching in my heart.” Lord, I know you will never stop being merciful to me. Your love and loyalty will always keep me safe. Lord, I know you will never stop being merciful to me. Your love and loyalty will always keep me safe.

 

David had a very special relationship with God his whole life. Even as young man, God choose David to be the future king of his people. David killed Goliath by faith and no fear. God called David a man after his own heart. This doesn’t mean that David had everything going his way.

It took fifteen years for David to become king. Then there was the whole Bathsheba incident. In spite of all of David’s hardships, he never gave up on God and God never gave up on him. David prayed to God to deliver him from all his trouble. He always turned to God in his times of trouble, knowing God will always be there for him. God never let him down. David knew that God brought him to where he was in his life. He waited for God to act, knowing that God always had the best plan for his life.

Can we say along with David “I will wait patiently for the Lord. You have done many things for us, give us ears to hear and follow your instructions. We can always count on your love and mercy to keep us safe.”

Heavenly Father, thank you for being there for us, every day, in every circumstance. We know you will never fail us.
