16 Then the eleven disciples left for Galilee, going to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him—but some of them doubted!
18 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Reading these last verses in Matthew, ‘The Great Commission’, it feels like a tall order from Jesus. Like a chapter specific to the Apostles, or Pastors and Church Leaders. But we often hear, “Go and make disciples…” Just how do we do that in our everyday lives? How do you share your faith? I am certain there are many ways we conduct this even early on. Planting the seed teaching vacation bible school, parenting, or your career choice. Praying, and giving at church of your time and talents. Your good deeds that reflect your character to others. Where is Jesus calling you?
On this Holy Trinity Sunday, we pray in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God the Father is love, relational love, and sent His Son Jesus to redeem us, and the Holy Spirit applies that redemption within us. God has made us in His image and likeness; let us pray we never take that for granted. He is always with us. Lord give us Your grace to carry out Your commission.
In His name we pray. Amen.
